The Columbus Wildcats rolled up a 19-2 victory over the WACO Warriors on the softball diamond last night. Columbus came out on fire, scoring 13 runs in the first inning alone and ending the game after four frames.

Kennedy Woepking hammered two doubles and had three total hits and three runs scored for the Wildcats. Fellow junior Jessica Del Rio and senior Lily Coil also each hit a double and scored three times, while Coil and Woepking joined eighth-grader Jacqueline Farrier in each having three runs batted in.

Junior Daniela Diaz scored a game-high four runs for Columbus, while Coil allowed just two hits and racked up nine strikeouts while pitching all four innings for the Wildcats, who improve to 6-3 in the North division of the Southeast Iowa Super Conference and 8-7 overall.

Meanwhile, WACO is still winless through 11 games this season. While the Warriors next play against Hillcrest Academy, Columbus will also take on Highland later this evening.
