The Sigourney Savage baseball team is still undefeated in conference play after a convincing 18-0 win over English Valleys last night. Sigourney struck right away in the first inning by scoring four runs, and the Savages doubled a 5-0 lead in the third before scoring twice more in the fourth and six times in the fifth to end the game early.

Sigourney’s overall perfect season came to an end Tuesday evening with a 5-3 loss to North Linn. While the seventh-ranked team in the state in Class 1A scored a run in the first inning to take the initial lead, the second-ranked Savages got on the board in the second thanks to a three-home run by sophomore Lincoln Power.

Unfortunately, they would not crack the scoreboard again, and the Lynx would rally to take the victory. Freshman Hunter Sellers pitched the first four-and-two-thirds innings for Sigourney and allowed three earned runs on five hits and two walks.

The Savages now have a record of 14-1, including a 10-0 mark in the South Iowa Cedar League. Sigourney is back in action tonight against another conference rival in BGM.
