Hillcrest Academy is hosting a farewell open house for basketball coach and principal Dwight Gingerich and his wife Mo Gingerich. Dwight is leaving Hillcrest after over 40 years with the school
Dwight is an alum of Hillcrest, formerly Iowa Mennonite School. He leaves as the fourth-winningest coach in Iowa boys’ basketball history. In addition, he leaves an administrative legacy including the school’s new name, the integration of middle school classes, and guiding the school through the COVID-19 pandemic. In an interview with KCII following his departure announcement last month, he thanked those he had worked alongside throughout his career, “I just want to mention through the years, along with all the amazing athletes I’ve been able to coach, I’m just so grateful for the other coaches I’ve been able to work with.”
Dwight is departing to become the new men’s basketball coach and athletic director at Goshen College in Indiana.
The open house will be held on Sunday, June 22 from 4-6 p.m. at Hillcrest Academy in the Wilbur & Helen Yoder Atrium.
