
The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk baseball and softball teams host the Wilton Beavers tonight to finish their weekly River Valley Conference series. The Golden Hawk boys are 11-6 overall and 7-4 in the RVC after sweeping the No. 15 Beavers on their home diamond Monday by 4-1 and 5-0 scores. On the year, the Hawks hit .285 together with a .407OBP and .386 slug, scoring 115 runs on 130 hits, 95RBI, 77 walks and 94 strikeouts. Individually, three Hawks are .300 or better led by Tatem Telfer’s .429 average with 19RBI. Brooks Weber has 22 total hits and 15 runs scored. On the mound, the Mid-Prairie team ERA is 2.59 with a 1.35WHIP, .198 opponent average with 84 hits, 42 earned runs, 69 walks, and 144 strikeouts. Brady Weber and Telfer are a combined 7-0 with a 0.78ERA.
Wilton is 10-7 overall and 6-6 in the RVC after beating North Cedar Wednesday 7-0. The Beavers are ranked No. 15 in this week’s Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association Class 2A poll. They hit .223 as a team with a .389OBP and .305 slug with 75 runs, 76 hits, 53RBI, 84 walks and 103 strikeouts. Ben Garvin is the leader at .432 with 16 total hits and 10RBI. Owen Hassell has scored 17 times. On the mound, the Beaver ERA is 2.99 as a staff with a 1.58WHIP, .178 opponent average, 85 hits, 42 earned runs, 71 walks and 117 strikeouts. Garvin and Kaiden Sivia are a combined 5-3 with a 2.20ERA. The Hawks have won 13 of the last 14 in the series.
The Mid-Prairie girls are looking to snap a five game skid, standing at 4-6 on the year and 2-3 in conference after a loss Monday at No. 10 Wilton 8-3. This year, the Hawks hit .300 as a lineup, with a .401OBP and .392 slug with 74 runs, 85 hits, 63RBI, 42 walks and 49 strikeouts. Three Hawks are .400 or better led by Kadence Grout at .457 with 16 total hits and 14 driven in. Claire Trimpe’s 13 runs scored are best. In the circle, Grout, Alena Snider and Naomi Wadsworth have a combined 7.31ERA, 2.27WHIP, .316 opponent average with 91 hits, 63 earned runs, 46 walks and 28 strikeouts.
Wilton is 8-6 on the year and 3-3 in the RVC after their Monday win over Mid-Prairie. The Beavers are ranked No. 10 in Class 2A in the latest poll from the Iowa High School Athletic Union. This year they hit .275 as a lineup with a .337OBP, .349slug with 74 runs, 100 hits, 55RBI, 30 walks and 71 strikeouts. Everly Huthmacher leads at .476. Kinsey Drake has 16 hits and 15 runs scored and Audra Coss and Ali Walker have each driven in eight. The Wilton pitching staff of Kennedi Tyler, Shelby Geurink, and Sydnee Bliss have a 4.40 group ERA, 1.87WHIP and .267 opponent average with 97 hits, 54 earned runs, 65 walks, and 63 strikeouts. The Beavers have won 11 of the last 12 in the series.
