The Hillcrest Academy Raven baseball and softball teams start the week with back-to-back nights on the diamond when they host the Pekin Panthers Tuesday. The Raven boys traveled to New London Monday where they were beaten by the Tigers 5-4. The Ravens are 5-5 overall and 4-1 in conference. They are hitting .238 as a group with a .362OBP and .322 slug, 55 runs, 51 hits, 45RBI, 35 walks and 68 strikeouts. Individually, three Ravens are at .300 or better, led by Rowan Miller at .370 with 10 hits and nine runs scored. Mason Helmuth has a team best 11RBI. The Hillcrest staff ERA is 3.63 with a 1.26WHIP and .220 opponent batting average, 44 hits, 28 earned runs, 24 walks and 45 strikeouts. Phoenix Anderson and Seth Ours are a combined 4-0 with a 0.90ERA.

Pekin is 4-5 on the year and 4-3 in Southeast Iowa Superconference play. They pounded Danville 22-5 in their last game. This year, the Panthers hit .376 as a team with a .487OBP and .494 slug with 69 runs on 92 hits, 63RBI, 45 walks and 51 strikeouts. Four batters are .400 or better with Henry Adam at .571 with 16 total hits and 11 runs scored. Alijah Brock has 10RBI. The team ERA is 4.82 with a 1.61WHIP and .188 opponent average on 48 hits, 36 earned runs and walks and 87 strikeouts. Adam leads there also with a one ERA in 20 innings. Hillcrest has won five of the last six, with the two teams splitting last year.

The Hillcrest softball team is 5-9 on the year after beating Danville and losing to Holy Trinity Catholic at Saturday’s Hillcrest Classic. This year, the Ravens hit .301 as a lineup, with a .426OBP and .377 slug on 96 runs, 111 hits, 69RBI, 75 walks and 112 strikeouts. Individually, three Ravens are .400 or better, led by Malia Yoder at .556 with 25 total hits. Morgyn Nafziger has scored 18 times and Delaney Shaw has driven in 17. In the circle, Yoder, Ella Mize and Lyla Genkinger have combined for a 4.27ERA and 1.84WHIP, .248 opponent average, 115 hits, 52 earned runs, 42 walks and 81 strikeouts.

Pekin is 5-9 overall and 2-4 in conference after losing to Keota and Central City Saturday at a tournament in Iowa City. The Panthers are hitting .340 as a team with a .432OBP and .465 slug on 97 runs, 112 hits, 69RBI, 40 walks and 62 strikeouts. Four players are .400 or better with Myah Bainbridge .526 on 20 hits and 13RBI. Carlie Gambell has scored 14 times. In the circle, the Panthers have a team ERA of 5.27 with a 2.09WHIP, .254 opponent average with 101 hits, 54 earned runs, 49 walks and 65 strikeouts. Kendra Schultz has a 2.80ERA.
