The Highland Huskies suffered losses in both baseball and softball last night. Highland softball lost a back-and-forth tussle on the road at Holy Trinity Catholic, scoring once in the top of the first inning before Holy Trinity matched it and responding to a 5-2 deficit by tying the game up with three runs in the top of the sixth.

Unfortunately, the Crusaders would strike twice in the bottom of the sixth and hold the Huskies in check in the seventh on their way to a 7-5 victory. Freshman lead-off hitter Kamryn Fink had two hits, two runs scored and one batted in for Highland, while eighth-grader Kinzie Ruess clubbed a double as part of a two-hit, one-RBI game.

Eighth-grade catcher Adley Sweeting added two hits and freshman Kayce Schnoebelen picked up a pair of runs driven in as the Huskies fall to a record of 5-5.

Highland baseball led early against Burlington Notre Dame by scoring in the top of the first, but allowing nine runs in the second would be too much to overcome as they fell by a final score of 14-1. The Huskies have an eight-game win streak come to an end as their record drops to 8-3.
