The Lone Tree Lions split a softball doubleheader on Saturday. Lone Tree dropped its first game, allowing five runs in the second inning of a 10-0 loss to Grand View Christian. The Lions would also face an early deficit in Game Two with HLV/Tri-County, allowing three runs in the first.

But Lone Tree tied the game up with one run in each of the next three frames, and while the Warriors scored twice in the fourth to lead 5-3, the Lions countered with three runs in the top of the fifth.

Even after HLV tied the game in the bottom of the fifth, Lone Tree scored twice in the final inning and held on to win 8-6. The Lions now have a record of 7-6 ahead of their next game against Danville later tonight.

The Sigourney Savages were on the wrong side of a Saturday contest, falling at Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont 9-8. Sigourney is now 9-4 as they prepare to meet conference rival Lynnville-Sully.
