
The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk baseball and softball teams meet the Wilton Beavers in River Valley Conference action tonight. The Golden Hawk boys are 9-6 on the year after a loss at Council Bluffs St. Albert Friday. The Hawks have dropped five straight. They are hitting .286 as a team with a .408OBP and .394slug, scoring 106 runs, 116 hits, 87RBI, 69 walks and 85 strikeouts. Individually, three Hawks are at .300 or better, led by Brooks Weber .457, 21 hits and 15 runs scored. Tatem Telfer’s 16RBI are best. As a pitching staff, the Mid-Prairie ERA is 2.95 with a 1.38WHIP, .203 opponent average, 76 hits, 42 earned runs, 62 walks and 126 strikeouts. Brady Weber and Telfer are a combined 6-0 with a 0.75ERA.
Wilton is 9-5 this year after a 4-2 win over Alburnett last time out. The Beavers are hitting .227 as a team with a .400OBP and .315 slug on 74 runs, 72 hits, 53RBI, 83 walks and 93 strikeouts. Individually, Ben Garvin leads with a .429 average on 15 hits with 10RBI. Owen Hassell has 17 runs scored. On the mound, the Wilton team ERA is 2.99 with a 1.62WHIP, .178 batting average against, 74 hits, 36 earned runs, 63 walks and 108 strikeouts. Garvin is 3-1 with a 0.57ERA. The Beavers swept three games from the Golden Hawks last year by a combined 20-5 score.
The Mid-Prairie girls are 4-5 on the year after a 7-3 Thursday loss at West Liberty. This season, the Golden Hawks are hitting .312 as a lineup with a .414OBP and slug on 71 runs, 80 hits, 61RBI, 39 walks and 41 strikeouts. Individually, three Golden Hawks are at .400 or better, led by Kadence Grout’s .484 with 15 hits and 14RBI. Claire Trimpe has a team best 12 runs scored. In the circle, Alena Snider, Noami Wadsworth and Grout have a 7.34ERA, 2.28WHIP, .312 opponent average, 80 hits, 57 earned runs, 44 walks and 26 strikeouts.
Wilton is 7-6 this year. The Beavers dropped their last game 11-1 to Central DeWitt. Wilton is ranked No. 10 in Class 2A in the latest poll from the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union. They are hitting .266 as a group with a .334OBP and slug, scoring 59 runs, 78 hits, 44RBI, 26 walks and 60 strikeouts. Individually, six Beavers are at .300 or better, led by Kinsey Drake’s .361 with 13 total hits and runs scored. Audra Coss has knocked in eight. Kennedi Tyler, Shelby Guerink and Sydnee Bliss have combined for a 4.26ERA, 1.88WHIP, .258 opponent average, 74 hits, 42 earned runs, 56 walks and 49 strikeouts. Wilton has won 11 straight in the series including a three game sweep by combined 22-5 score.
