
The No. 9 Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk baseball team made their annual trip to the College World Series last weekend, and battled Council Bluffs St. Albert Friday night, in a 6-3 loss. The Golden Hawks took the early lead with a pair of first inning runs. St. Albert scored three in the bottom of the third to take their first lead at 3-2. The Hawks countered with a run in the top of four to tie things at three, but the Falcons would score once in each of their final four at bats to pull away for the win. Mid-Prairie was out hit 12-8 in total, each team drew four walks. Brady Weber led Mid-Prairie with three hits and scored a run. Tatem Telfer drove in two on a hit and Cash Brown added an RBI single. Landry Gingerich and Gentry Bontrager combined for six innings on the hill with 11 hits, four earned runs, four walks and five strikeouts. The loss is the fifth straight for the Hawks who are now 9-6 on the year. The Falcons are 6-9 after the win. Mid-Prairie travels to Wilton for a conference doubleheader Monday.
