Weather last week allowed Iowa’s farmers 4.7 days suitable for fieldwork like cutting hay and spraying crops. Currently the state’s corn is four days ahead of last year but two days behind normal with 92 percent emerged. In southeast Iowa 93 percent of corn has emerged. 

Soybeans in the state are 10 days ahead of last year with 88 percent emerged. In the southeast corner of the state 90 percent of soybeans have emerged. 

Iowa’s topsoil moisture is rated at 71 percent adequate and 21 percent short. Meanwhile, subsoil moisture is rated at 64 percent adequate, 28 percent short, and five percent very short.
