The Washington City Council approved financing for a new fire engine at their Tuesday meeting.
In 2023, the Council approved the purchase of a new fire engine at a price of $940,423 plus $50,000 for equipment. In 2024, the City made an initial payment that included a discount and some funding from the Washington County Riverboat Foundation. A balance of $365,000 remains.
City Administrator Joe Gaa shared how the financing would work for the remaining cost of the new fire engine, “So doing that $365,000 (remaining balance) over a five-year term, at 4.25% is two payments each year of $40,470.87, and a five year total of $404,748.70.”
The fiscal year 2026 budget included financing the final amount as part of the Capital Improvement Plan.
