A Keokuk County man has died in the custody of the Iowa Department of Corrections. The department announced that Leland Leroy Groff was pronounced dead Friday, June 6th at the University of Iowa Hospitals. Groff was 78 years old at the time of his death.

Groff was imprisoned for a parole violation in 2024. He had two previous serious misdemeanor convictions for indecent exposure in 2019 and assault on persons in certain occupations in 2021.
