
The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk softball team was a Monday road winner at West Branch, knocking out the Bears by a 12-3 score. The Hawks climbed up early with a three spot in the second and West Branch tied it with a single run in the third and two more in the fourth. Even at three going to the fifth, the Golden Hawks exploded for five, and four more in the seventh to put the game out of reach. Mid-Prairie out hit the Bears 12-9 in total, drawing four walks. Kadence Grout led the way at the plate with three hits including a homer, three RBI and a run scored. Elise Foster knocked in three on two hits. Sophie Miller delivered two RBI on two hits with a run. Izzy Kite also had two hits with one driven in. In the circle, Grout was the winner with a complete game, eight hits, one earned run, two walks and a strikeout.
Mid-Prairie entered the weekend at 3-1 overall and 2-0 in conference play. West Branch is 1-4 and 0-4.
