
A Washington man was arrested on attempted murder charges on Thursday morning. According to the Washington Police Department, at 9:15 a.m. authorities were called to a home in the 900 block of North Iowa Avenue for an assault. Upon arrival, officers arrested 28-year old Maicol Leonel Godoy-Moncada.
He has been charged with attempted murder, willful injury, going armed with intent, and assault with a dangerous weapon. According to court records, Godoy-Moncada was in a verbal altercation that escalated to a physical altercation, and he allegedly stabbed a victim twice in the back with a kitchen knife. The victim sustained serious injury requiring medical attention.
Godoy-Moncada was taken to the Washington County Jail.
