The City of Riverside will begin construction on a bypass street next to Highland Elementary School beginning on Monday.

The project will extend Cherry Lane to help alleviate traffic near the school. While the project is expected to be completed before the beginning of school next fall, Riverside City Administrator Cole Smith says the construction will impact anyone needing to go to the school during the summer, “You would not be able to enter Highland Elementary during the construction period from Schnoeblen Street, you would need to go in the west entrance that you can access from Galileo Drive.”

Smith went on to say that the intersection of Cherry Lane and Kleopfer Avenue has the potential for brief closures during the construction. The project cost is $247,887.77.
