
It’s a Southeast Iowa Superconference softball showdown Thursday night in Columbus Junction when the home Wildcats host the Hillcrest Academy Ravens. Columbus enters with a 4-2 overall record, they are unbeaten at 3-0 in conference. The Wildcats have been off since a 3-2 win over Mount Pleasant Saturday. On the year, Columbus hits .213 as a team with a .390OBP and .335 slug, scoring 47 runs on 33 hits with 39RBI, 22 walks and 40 strikeouts. Individually, three Wildcats are .300 or better, led by Lily Coil at .600 with 12 total hits and 18 driven in. Ellie Sanders has the team lead with 13 runs scored and seven walks. In the circle, the Wildcat staff ERA is 1.62 with a 1.38WHIP on a .230 opponent average, allowing 38 hits, nine earned runs, 16 walks and 52 strikeouts. Kennedy Woepking is 3-2 with a 0.91ERA.
Hillcrest Academy is 2-2 this year overall and in conference following a 6-0 loss Monday at Danville. The Ravens are hitting .272 as a group with a .449OBP and .388 slug, scoring 32 runs on 28 hits with 19RBI, 29 walks and 39 strikeouts. Individually, four Ravens are hitting .400 or better, led by Malia Yoder at .500. She and Erin Bontrager each have six total hits, Bontrager six RBI, Delaney Shaw six runs scored and Morgyn Nafziger and Stavia Miller five walks each. In the circle, Yoder has worked all but two innings with a 3.04ERA and 1.70WHIP, allowing a .220 opponent average on 24 hits, 10 earned runs, 15 walks and 24 strikeouts for a 2-2 record. The Wildcats have won 10 of the last 14 in the series, but the Ravens got the season sweep last year 14-7 and 10-7. Action starts tonight at 7p.m. In CJ.
