One of southeast Iowa’s greatest rivalries gets renewed tonight on the KCII3 Stream when the Highland Huskies meet the Lone Tree Lions on the softball diamond as part of the Area Game of the Week.

Highland is 2-2 overall and 1-1 in Superconference North play after a loss to West Burlington-Notre Dame Monday 10-0. Kamryn Fink recorded the lone hit, while Adisyn Prottsman took the loss in the circle, going one-and-a-third, allowing five runs on no hits, four earned, three walks and one punchout. The Huskies hit .275 as a group and have scored 23 runs on 22 hits, knocking 15 in, own a .453 OBP and .300 slug. Larissa Murphy has the most work in the circle, completing 16-and-two-thirds innings allowing nine runs on 12 hits, all nine earned, seven walks and 18 strikeouts. As a staff, Highland has pitched 19-and-a-third innings, allowing 17 runs on 14 hits, 16 earned, 11 walks to 21 Ks, a .189 opponent average, 5.79 ERA and 1.29 WHIP.

Lone Tree is 2-3 on the year and 1-3 in the SEISC after a slim 5-4 win over Holy Trinity Catholic Monday. Senior Cate Sexton tallied an RBI single, and fellow senior Alex Dautremont took the win in the circle, going the distance and allowing four runs on nine hits, three earned, a walk and three Ks. This year, the Lions have scored 20 runs on 24 hits, own 11 RBI, a .264 average, .393 OBP and .330 slug. As a staff, Lone Tree has pitched 25-and-a-third innings, allowing 38 runs on 36 hits, a .254 opponent average, 7.74 ERA and 2.09 WHIP. Dautremont has pitched 16 innings, allowing 27 runs on 27 hits, 20 earned, nine walks to eight strikeouts, a 8.75 ERA and 2.25 WHIP.

In the Varsity Bound era, Highland owns the all-time series with Lone Tree 31-6 dating back to 2007 and has taken the last 10 games.
