Healing at English River Outfitters (HERO) received a grant from the Washington County Riverboat Foundation (WCRF) for its equipment protection project.
HERO is a nonprofit recreation site in Washington County for veterans, with a specific focus on accessibility for veterans with disabilities.
The funding will go toward the construction of a pole barn that will allow the organization to protect property like its boat, UTV and track chair that it uses to facilitate and help veterans with activities such as fishing trips.
HERO board president Rod Courtney said that the project will also give the organization space to process the deer which the veterans kill on their deer hunting trips each year.
The grant was awarded for $15,338, and the total project will cost $31,000.
