
The Hillcrest Academy baseball and softball teams are back on the diamond tonight for a crossover Southeast Iowa Superconference game when they meet the Danville Bears from the south division. The Raven girls are 2-1 this year after a 16-2 Friday win over WACO. This year, the Ravens are hitting .308 as a team with a .514OBP and .436slug, scoring 32 runs on 24 hits, 19RBI, 29 walks and 22 strikeouts. Individually, Erin Bontrager and Maryn Boshart are both at .600 with a combined 10RBI, nine hits, five walks and two runs scored. In the circle, Malia Yoder is 2-1 with a 2.62ERA, 1.62 WHIP, .221 opponent average, 17 hits, six earned runs and 20Ks.
Danville is 1-3 this year after an 8-1 loss to Centerville last time out. As a group, the Bears hit .268 with a .342OBP and .352 slug with 19 hits, six RBI, six walks and 17 strikeouts. Individually, Alivia Bauer is hitting .571 with four hits, a walk and run scored. Brynley Wenig and Addison Waste have combined in the circle to put up a 2.33ERA and two WHIP with a .242 opponent average, 23 hits, six earned runs, 13 walks and 10 strikeouts. Danville has won 12 of the last 20 in the series, but the Ravens have won five straight, including a 14-5 victory a season ago.
The Hillcrest boys are 1-0 this year after a mercy rule win in five innings over Wapello 10-0 on Thursday where Seth Ours threw a shortened no-hitter with 13 strikeouts and Mason Helmuth had three hits and drove in three while Mason Bender and Rowan Miller combined on four hits and four RBI. Danville is 0-3 this year after losses to Central Lee, Highland and Notre Dame by a combined 39-8 score. The Bears hit .182 as a club with a .325OBP and .242 slug, scoring eight runs on 12 hits, driving in five, walking five times and striking out 29. As a staff, Danville has a team ERA of 9.06 with a 2.65WHIP, .230 opponent average, allowing 26 hits, 22 earned runs, 19 walks and 22 strikeouts. Alex Holtkamp is the leader with three innings, an .071 opponent average and six Ks. The Ravens have won eight straight in the series including 12-2 a season ago.
