The Wellman Volunteer Ambulance received a grant from the Washington County Riverboat Foundation to purchase a video laryngoscope for the unit.

A video laryngoscope helps the process of intubation by providing a visual of airway structures.

According to the National Institute of Health’s National Library of Medicine, the video laryngoscope is becoming more widely used and available, and has higher intubation success rates, especially for less experienced personnel.

The grant was awarded for $2,621.
