
A teenager was killed in a two-vehicle wreck near Packwood Thursday morning. According to the Iowa State Patrol, at 7:35 a.m., a car driven by 17-year old Ava Ford of Packwood crossed the center line and hit a Dodge Ram truck head-on.
Ford died at the scene.
The truck was driven by 40-year old Clinton Weaver of Lancaster, Missouri. Weaver was taken by AirCare helicopter to the University of Iowa Hospital.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts. The collision happened approximately one mile south of Packwood.
Multiple emergency agencies assisted at the scene.
Pekin School District announced that Ford was a member of the senior class. The district has a school counselor available in the high school office this week and next week. The counselor is available to provide support to any students or community members. In addition, a grief crisis team is available through the AEA. Those who need help are encouraged to reach out.
