The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk baseball and softball teams are back on the diamond tonight to wrap up a busy week. The Golden Hawk softball team travels to Mount Pleasant to take on the Panthers. The Hawks are 0-1 this season after a 17-16 loss at Keokuk Tuesday. Mid-Prairie was 7-24 a season ago, 5-13, sixth in the River Valley Conference South Division. The Golden Hawks hit .277 as a team with a .364OBP and .358 slug with 163 runs scored on 221 hits, 132RBI, 76 walks and 136 strikeouts. They had a team ERA of 5.71 with a WHIP of two, and .353 opponent average on 310 hits, 153 earned runs 72 walks and 72 strikeouts. The Golden Hawks had three All-River Valley selections last year with one returning. Catcher Sophie Miller is back after a sophomore season with a .329 average, .412OBP, 23 total hits, 21 RBI and runs scored. The Hawks do have to replace team leaders Dakota Mitchell with her .404 average, .518OBP, 36 hits and 35 runs and Gabi Robertson with a .300 average, 27 hits, 13 runs and 11 driven in. Kadence Grout is back in the circle after a 6-16 year in 126 innings with a 5.15 ERA.

Mount Pleasant is 0-2 this year after dropping games to Central Lee and Oskaloosa this week by a combined 20-8 score. They are hitting .269 as a team with a .333OBP and .327 slug with eight runs on 14 hits, eight RBI, five walks and 14 strikeouts. Abigail Shelangoski leads with a .667 average, four hits, and two runs. Saige Burchett has driven in three. In the circle, they have a staff ERA of 7.20 with a .236 opponent average on 13 hits, 12 earned runs four walks and five strikeouts combined between Chaley Cook and Jolynn Martin.

The Mid-Prairie baseball team is 4-1 on the year after a 13-3 win at Tipton Thursday. The Golden Hawks are ranked No. 14 in Class 2A in the first poll of the season from the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association. Entering Thursday, Mid-Prairie was hitting .226 as a team with a. 374OBP and .280 slug, scoring 17 runs on 21 hits, 14RBI, 18 walks and 28 strikeouts. Four Hawks are .300 or better, led by Jason Heitman at .417, including five total hits. Conner Wiles has a team best five drive in and Heitman, Gentry Bontrager and Blake Swart have all scored three times. On the mound, Mid-Prairie has a 0.78 team ERA with a WHIP under one. Opponents hit .100 against them with nine hits, three earned runs nine walks and 38 strikeouts. Brady and Brooks Weber and Tatem Telfer are a combined 3-0 with a 0.51ERA.

Williamsburg is 3-2 overall this year after a Wednesday split with Independence, a 13-2 loss and 5-0 win. Individual Raider leaders are Bryson Wetjen on the mound with a win and no earned runs allowed, with Nile Sinn striking out seven in 14 innings. The Golden Hawks have won six of the last seven in the series and five straight over Williamsburg.
