A Lone Tree staff member was honored with a Distinguished Service Award from the Iowa Unit of the Council of Administrators of Special Education (I-CASE).

The award was given to Amy Shalla, the district’s director of special education. The award is designed to honor individuals who have made significant contributions to programs and services for students with disabilities.

Shalla was nominated for the award by former co-worker Nathan Carlson and received letters of recommendation from Lone Tree Superintendent Tyler Hotz and former Mid-Prairie Superintendent Mark Schneider.

Shalla received the award at a presentation at Lone Tree High School last Friday.
