The run through the regional tournament continued Wednesday night for the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk girls soccer team. The road warriors won their second playoff game-in-a-row away from Wellman, taking down Mediapolis at Archer Field 2-1. The Golden Hawks grabbed a 1-0 lead early, and held that to intermission. After break, each team would find the back of the net once, the Hawks during game action, the Bullettes on a PK. Mid-Prairie had six shots on goal and four corner kicks. Meadow Flynn scored her team leading 11th goal and Avery Helmuth had her second strike of the year. Kyla Karnes had her first assist of the season. Ruth Whitthoft shut down the MEPO offense in goal, making six saves. Mid-Prairie is 7-10-3 after the win as Mediapolis ends their season 11-6-1. The Golden Hawks travel to the Quad Cities Friday to face Davenport Assumption in a substate final, Mid-Prairie is looking for the program’s first ever bid to the State Tournament.
