The season came to an end for Washington Demon boys’ soccer last night in a 3-1 loss at Clarke Community in the first round of the Class 2A Substate 6 playoffs. Washington trailed 1-0 at halftime and would have that deficit doubled three minutes into the second half.

The Demons would answer in the 44th minute when junior Edwin Cortes scored his ninth goal of the season on an assist by senior Kevin Marcelino. But the Indians scored again in the 59th minute and would hang on from there.

The season ends for Washington with a record of 2-14. The Demons will now say goodbye to three seniors, including Marcelino, Brendan Taylor and Kaden Read.
