A pair of Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys golfers have state bids on their minds Monday at the Class 2A district meet at Bos Landen in Pella. Golden Hawk junior Bryce Henry and sophomore Grayson Gingerich each shot 78s to advance through last week’s sectional tournament at Monroe. Mid-Prairie finished fifth as a team with an overall 327. On the year, Henry has a 43 average on nine and Gingerich 44. On 18 its Henry at 81 and Gingerich at 83. Both players are featured in this week’s Class 2A poll from the Iowa High School Golf Coaches Association with Henry No. 98 and Gingerich 108.
These two will be joined by teams and individuals from Albia, Dyersville-Beckman, Cascade, No. 20 Central Lee, Davis County, Louisa-Muscatine, No. 27 Mediapolis, No. 31 Monticello, Northeast Goose Lake, No. 5 Prairie City Monroe, No. 21 Iowa City Regina, Tipton, No. 11 West Branch and home No. 3 Pella Christian. There are 44 ranked golfers in today’s tournament. Action starts at 10a.m. At Bos Landen in Pella.
