Washington residents probably noticed the lane alteration taking place at the intersection of 12th Avenue and Washington Street that started last week.
This is the first phase of the traffic signal project that the Washington City Council approved. City Administrator Joe Gaa gives more details on the work underway, “What you are seeing is the basework, as far as getting the concrete bases set and some of the electrical conduit and stuff being done. That’s, that is going to be a really a multi-piece project throughout the summer.”
Next for the project will be pavement work done by the DOT at the intersection, once that is completed they will be restriping the roadway into three lanes. After the restriping, and once the equipment has arrived, the new traffic light will be installed. Residents should expect construction to be taking place throughout the summer.
