The Riverside City Council approved plans for a commercial RV park just off of Highway 218 at their meeting Monday night.

The business, which passed the Planning and Zoning Committee last week, had slight plan modifications to better align with Iowa Department of Transportation recommendations. Those changes included a phasing clause allowing for the 12 interior lots to be completed by July 1, 2026, a later date than the rest of the site which includes 23 spaces for a total of 35 RVs to overnight in Riverside. A building permit for the site was also received by the city between the two meetings.

The city council chose not to pursue a length of stay restriction which had been suggested at the Planning and Zoning meeting previously.

The site will still need to appear before the Board of Adjustment to receive a variance or special exception for a utility in order to complete the approval process.
