
Two local Southeast Iowa Superconference teams step on the pitch tonight in Riverside when the Hillcrest Academy Ravens visit the Highland Huskies. The Ravens come into the night with a 6-2-1 overall record after a 3-0 week that included wins over Columbus, Sigourney-Keota and Wapello by a combined 28-2 score. This year the Ravens have outscored their opponents, 40-9 in total with 92 shots on goal, 56 corner kicks, 36 assists and a 76% team save percentage. Individually, Mason Helmuth leads with 12 goals, he and Mason Bender are tied with six assists and Kyle Neuschwander has 31 saves.
Highland is 6-4-1 this season after an 0-2-1 week with matching 3-0 losses to Burlington Notre Dame and Central Lee and a 1-1 draw against Cedar Valley Christian. This year the Huskies have outscored their opponents 33-24 in total, including 138 shots on goal, 32 corner kicks, 22 assists and an 84% team save percentage. Individually, Jared Diaz has a team best 13 goals and six assists while Ayden Havel has made 113 saves. Hillcrest has won eight straight in the series including 1-0 and 5-1 wins a season ago.
