People are encouraged to go out and see a show of spring color with wildflowers before they are gone. The weekly Woodland Wildflower report from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources states there are a few remaining large-flowered bellwort and late Dutchman’s breeches in southern Iowa. In addition, Virginia bluebells are plentiful along with woodland blue phlox, violets, Spring beauty, and wild ginger. Buttercups are increasing. New blooms this week include wild geranium, purple dead nettle, starry Solomon’s seal, toothed rockcress, and the rare Bishop’s cap.
