May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and Washington High School is taking part in recognizing this observance.
In a way to participate, the school is encouraging staff and the community to wear green every Wednesday in May. Green is the color of Mental Health Awareness.
Peer Helpers will be spending time Chalking the Walk at the high school, decorating the school with banners and green ribbons and placing cups in the softball fence to make ribbons and a message. The Morale Committee will also have staff self care activities going on and have positive messages for students and staff throughout the month.
According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, since 1949, Mental Health Awareness Month has been a driving force in addressing the challenges faced by millions of Americans living with mental health conditions.
