Rain last week resulted in just 2.5 days suitable for fieldwork in southeast Iowa. Topsoil moisture in this corner of the state is rated at 81% adequate and 11% short. Subsoil moisture is rated at 74% adequate and 20% short.

Southeast Iowa’s farmers have 45% of corn planted, ahead of the state’s five-year average of 28%. So far, 35% of soybeans have been planted, ahead of the 13% five-year average. Oats are on track with 31% emerged in southeast Iowa.
