At their meeting on Tuesday, the Washington County Board of Supervisors approved the salaries of elected officials for the 2026 fiscal year.

They authorized a 2% increase in salaries for all elected officials excluding an additional 2% for the Supervisor Chair. The resolution was passed three to one with Supervisor Marcus Fedler saying no.

This is the first year that the Supervisors made the decision on elected officials salaries without a compensation board. This is due to the passage of Senate File 2442 that Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds signed and put into effect on July 1st 2024, giving county Boards of Supervisors the authority to do away with or continue to have a compensation board.
