Plans for a new RV park in Riverside passed the city’s Planning and Zoning board Tuesday night, and are advancing to next Monday’s city council meeting.

The plans for the park, which is set to be located just south of Copper Creek Ridge on Commercial Drive, includes 12 standard parking spaces, including the minimum required two Americans with Disabilities Act-Compliant spaces, and 35 RV parking spaces.

A concern raised by the board was length of stay, to which Smith suggested adopting a new ordinance to maintain the use as short-term stay even if ownership of the property is transferred at a later date. City Building Inspector Terry Goerdt suggested tying a 14-day stay maximum in with the variance/special exception, which was something Smith said he’d need to refer to the city’s attorney.

Should the plans be approved by the City Council, the park would still require either a variance or special exception, which City Administrator Cole Smith said he would confirm the exact procedure, in order to waive a utility easement along the site’s eastern border.

The next city council meeting, where the site plan will face final approval, is scheduled for Monday, May 5th, at 6 p.m.
