
Tuesday, Anamosa hosted the Blue Raider Co-Ed Invitational, the final track meet on the calendar for April. In a field of 12 teams, the Mid-Prairie girls were second with 141 points, behind only champion Mount Vernon’s 151. The Golden Hawks won four event championships on the night including the 4×800 with the team of Kendal Landstrum, Tessa Brokaw, Brooklyn Stutzman and Rachel Hostetler in 9:54.40. The 4×100 of Jeorgia and Jovi Evans, Tessa Bombei and Myli Hershberger was a winner in 51.79 seconds. Hostetler won the 3000 in 10:56.06 and Jeorgia Evans long jump at 17’3”. Runner-up performances included Jeorgia Evans in the 200, Stutzman in the 3000, Sophie Miller in the 100 hurdles, Harper Pacha in discus and the shuttle hurdle team of Sophie and Ruby Miller, Olivia Slabach and Bombei. Third place belonged to Landstrum in the 800, Stutzman in the 1500, Dessa Poll in discus, the sprint medley of Hershberger, Sophie and Ruby Miller and Hannah Rodgers and the distance medley with Sophie Miller, Jovi Evans, Hershberger and Hostetler. In fourth was Hostetler in the 400, Ruby Miller in the 400 hurdles, Bombei in high jump, Pacha in shot put and the 4×200 with Hershberger, Bombei, Ruby Miller and Kyrie Poll.
The Mid-Prairie boys were third of 11 teams with 130 points. Central DeWitt won the meet with 138. The Hawks had six championship events on the night including Jayden Stafford sweeping the wheelchair 100, 200, 400 and 800s with times of 18.53 seconds, 34.54 seconds, 1:06.71 and 2:49.76 respectively. Emmett Swartzentruber was the two-mile winner in 9:42.91 and Burke Berry won shot put at 54’8.25”. Other top performances included runner-up for Josh Turner in high jump, Thomas Lueck in long jump, Tommy Miller in shot put and the 4×100 team of Kaden Kos, Kendrick Kos, Nolan Jergens and Ryan Henry. Third place events included Henry in the 100, Jayse Yoder in the 400, Preston Yutzy in the 800, Swartzentruber in the mile, Cash Brown in long jump and the distance medley with Jergens, Henry, Yutzy and Swartzentruber. In fourth were Burke Berry in discus and the 4×2 with Brown, Kaden and Kendrick Kos and Jergens. Fifth place events were Thomas Flynn in the 800, Yoder in the mile and the school-record sprint medley with Kaden and Kendrick Kos, Henry and Yoder.
