
The Columbus Wildcats would earn a victory in a girls’ golf dual Tuesday against Louisa-Muscatine at Cedar Crest Country Club in Columbus Junction. Columbus finished with a combined team score of 208 strokes, 12 better than the Falcons.
Junior Hailey Wellington was the meet medalist and had the Wildcats’ best round with a 13-over-par 49, while teammate Lily Coil was only two strokes back of her in second, fellow senior Aracely Garza was third with a 53 and junior Kinlee Brown finished fourth with a 55.
The Columbus boys would come close to the same team score at 203 but would still be 25 strokes back of Louisa-Muscatine. Junior Kason Dopler led the Wildcats with an eight-over 44, while sophomore Mason Hardy shot a 51. Freshman Aiden Dohrmann added a 58, while seniors Ryan Coil and Mason Heck had rounds of 52 and 56, respectively.
The Highland Huskies and Lone Tree Lions would both come up short Monday against Burlington Notre Dame in a boys’ triangular at Blue Top Ridge Golf Course in Riverside.
Lone Tree finished with a combined team score of 209 and was led by Jack Patterson’s 48, while fellow junior Carter Schott fired a 51 and sophomore Owen Eden shot a 52. Freshman Easton Ronan added a 58 for the Lions.
On their way to a team score of 221, Highland was paced by Tyson Grout’s 51, while fellow sophomore Isaac Giesmann was only stroke behind him and sophomore Landon Roling had a 58 for the Huskies.
There would be no team duals Tuesday for the WACO Warriors when they hosted Holy Trinity Catholic at Twin Lakes Golf Course in Winfield, but sophomore Malachi Rinner shot a 48 for the boys.
WACO freshman teammate Ian Maize was only one stroke behind him, while Kellen Shelman added a 54 for the Warrior boys. Junior Morgan Meyer had the girls’ top round of 57.
