April in Iowa has been slightly warmer than normal according to the National Weather Service. The normal average temperature overall for April in Washington is 49.8 degrees and this year it’s been observed at 51.4 degrees. In addition, precipitation was nearly an inch below the normal amount of 3.65 inches. 

So far this year, the total precipitation has been 6.3 inches, 2.5 inches below the normal of 8.8 inches. 

As April moves into May, high temperatures are expected to be in the 60s with a chance for rain later this week. Listen to KCII for weather updates.
