The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys and girls track and field teams step back into competition tonight when they travel to Anamosa for the Blue Raider Co-Ed Relays. Both teams are coming off of a weekend with events in the spotlight at the Drake Relays in Des Moines and titles at their home meets last week. The Golden Hawk girls sent four events to Drake Stadium with Jeorgia Evans placing eighth in the 100 and 22nd in the long jump, Dessa Poll 16th in discus and the 4×100 team of Jeorgia and Jovi Evans, Tessa Bombei and Myli Hershbeger 24th. At the Hawks home meet Thursday they scored 175 points en route to a Senior Night team title. The Golden Hawks had wins in eight events including Rachel Hostetler in the 800, Sophie Miller in the 100 hurdles, Brooklyn Stutzman in the 3000, Harper Pacha in discus along with victories for the 4×4, 4×8, distance medley and shuttle hurdle

The Golden Hawk boys had three events at Drake Relays over the weekend. Jayden Stafford won his third wheelchair 400, Burke Berry went 12th in shot put and the Golden Hawk 4×100 with Nolan Jergens, Kaden Kos, Ryan Henry and Kendrick Kos were 50th. At their home meet, the Hawks celebrated their seniors with a win, piling up 222 points and 11 championships including Stafford in the wheelchair 100, 200 and 400s, Ryan Henry in the 100 and 200, Emmett Swartzentruber in the two-mile and mile, Preston Yutzy in the 800, Jergens in the 400, Berry in shot put and the Mid-Prairie sprint medley and 4×4.

The Hawks will be joined tonight by Central DeWitt, Central Elkader, Denver, Independence, Lisbon, Monticello, Mount Vernon, Springville, West Liberty and the home Blue Raiders. Action starts with field events at 4p.m. At the Anamosa Sports Complex.
