The Washington Demons finished fourth place in team scoring Friday at the Mohawk Boys’ Golf Invitational at The Preserve at Honey Creek Resort in Moravia. Washington finished with a combined score of 312 strokes and was only nine back of the winners from Prairie-City Monroe.

Junior Drew Conrad led the Demons and was the co-individual champion of the tournament, finishing with a one-under-par round of 71 after 18 holes. Senior Cole Vetter shot a 78, with junior Carson Brown only stroke behind him.

Senior Conner Leyden added an 84 for Washington, while sophomore Kaleb Orr carded an 87. The Demon girls also played in an 18-hole tournament Thursday at Edmundson Golf Course in Oskaloosa and were paced by freshman Elizabeth Hora’s 106.

While they will next play later today in a conference meet at Burlington, the boys host their Southeast Conference rivals this afternoon at Washington Golf & Country Club.
