Safety is a top priority on prom night. Mid-Prairie Schools are making an effort to drive that point home. According to a statement issued by High School Principal Chuck Banks, the district is partnering with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Wellman Fire Department, Wellman First Responders, KCII and the University of Iowa to stage a mock crash on campus. Prior to prom, all students at the high school will attend and participate in the assembly, centered around real-life consequences of distracted driving, driving under the influence and other dangerous behaviors. A notification will be sent to parents at the start of the assembly. Mid-Prairie’s prom will be held April 26th.
