The Winfield-Mount Union Wolves won another boys’ golf conference dual yesterday against Wapello at Heritage Oaks Golf & Country Club. WMU finished with a combined team score of 183 strokes, 24 less than the Indians.

Sophomore Justin Knipfer was the meet medalist and led Winfield-Mount Union by shooting an eight-over-par 44 that included six bogeys. Junior teammate Max Edwards was only one stroke behind him, while sophomore Cody Milks fired a 46 and juniors Nick Sparrow and Konner Kinneberg each finished with 48.

Senior Sinjin Brown added a 55 as the Wolves move to 3-0 in team duals in the North division of the Southeast Iowa Super Conference. The WMU girls came close to collecting a team victory of their own, falling just 19 strokes shy of Wapello with a final team score of 251.

Freshman Ashlyn Bender had the team’s best round by carding a 59. Winfield-Mount Union next hits the golf course Thursday against WACO.
