The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys and girls track teams showed up on the big stage at Saturday’s Eastern Iowa Track and Field Festival at Iowa City West High School. Competing alongside the best in all classes in the state, the Hawks scored 16 top 10 finishes.

Thirteen of those belonged to the Golden Hawk boys including wins in the wheelchair 100, 200 and 400 for Jayden Stafford in 19.56 seconds, 34.55 seconds and 1:06.72 respectively. The shuttle hurdle team of Cash Brown, Kendrick Kos, Thomas Lueck and Carson Humphrey took fourth, Burke Berry was fourth in shot put, as was the team of Preston Yutzy, Emmett Swartzentruber, Thomas Flynn and Jayse Yoder in the 4×8. Brown was fifth in long jump, Yoder was sixth in the 800 as was the team of Nolan Jergens, Yoder, Yutzy and Humphrey in the 4×4. Ryan Henry was seventh in the 200, so was Tommy Miller in shot put. Josh Turner took ninth in high jump and Henry was 10th in the 100.

The Golden Hawk girls were led by Dessa Poll in the discus, placing fourth. Rachel Hostetler was fifth in the 800 and Kendal Landstrum was eighth in the same event.
