Stories will hit the screens in downtown Washington this weekend for the annual Farm to Film Fest. This year the festival has received official designation as an Iowa Certified Film Festival under Produce Iowa, a program of the Iowa Economic Development Authority.
The two-day event is free to attendees. Documentaries, student films, feature films, short films, and more will be up for viewing. Topics range from college friends taking a road trip to reflections of breast cancer experiences, from the production of specialty coffee to anti-war protests.
The festival kicks off with a welcome and special showing of the feature film Silent Night in Algona at the State Theatre. The full slate of films will be shown at four venues downtown starting at noon Saturday through 5 p.m. at the Washington Public Library, Art Domestique, City Point Hub (the former YMCA), and Washington City Hall.
On Sunday the festival resumes with a film history presentation by local historian Michael Zahs at 10 a.m. at the library. And another segment of films will be shown from noon to 5 p.m. at the four venues.
