
The Washington Demons secured another conference team victory in boys’ golf yesterday at Sheaffer Memorial Golf Park in Fort Madison, posting a combined team score of 163 strokes that was five less than second-place Fairfield.
Rajan Roth led Washington with the medalist round of even-par 36, collecting birdies on the first and third holes to go with two bogeys. Fellow junior Drew Conrad was the meet runner-up with a 38, adding a birdie to four bogeys, while senior Cole Vetter was sixth overall by shooting a 44.
Senior Conner Leyden and junior Carson Brown each added a 45, and sophomore Ethan Peebler fired a 47 as the Demons win a 14th straight Southeast Conference event.
The Washington girls would finish fourth as a team at their conference meet at Fairfield Golf & Country Club. Senior Lauren Hinrichsen paced the Demons with a 14-over 49 and was fourth on the individual leaderboard.
Freshman Elizabeth Hora was 10th overall with a 54, while sophomore teammate Lucy Sands added a 59 for Washington. The Demon girls will next play Monday at Fort Madison, while the boys return to action for a conference meet that same day in Keokuk.
