
The lights will be back on at Case Field in Washington tonight for the annual Demon Relays. Local schools, Mid-Prairie, Highland and WACO will join the Demons Thursday.
The Washington boys and girls were at Williamsburg Tuesday where the boys were eighth as a team, led by Greyson Hartman’s shot put championship. The Washington girls were 10th as a team Tuesday at Williamsburg where top performances included a runner-up finish for the 4×800 of Kendall Hinrichsen, Lauren and Emma Horak and Iris Dahl and second for the 4×100 of Layla Green, Leighton Messinger, Leighton Salazar and Jaedyn Moore.
The Mid-Prairie boys will join the fray tonight at Washington. They were third at Williamsburg led by four titles from Jayden Stafford in the wheelchair 100, 200, 400 and 800s and a two-mile championship for Emmett Swartzentruber.
The Highland Huskies last competed Tuesday at Mediapolis. The Highland girls were fifth as a team with wins in the 4×100 and 4×200 relays. The Huskies posted three points on the boys side, with the top finish fifth place in the 4×100.
The WACO Warriors last ran at their home meet Tuesday. The Warrior boys were fourth as a team with Hayden Shelman winning long jump and Louden Huisenga taking high jump. The WACO girls were also fourth with Carlee Lunsford winning the 800 and the Warrior 4×4 and shuttle hurdle teams scoring the win.
These teams will be joined tonight by Burlington, Fairfield, Fort Madison, Iowa City Liberty, Mount Pleasant, North Cedar, Cedar Rapids Prairie, Tipton, and Wapello. Action starts this afternoon at 3:30p.m. And continues into the evening at Case Field in Washington.
