
Three area schools were on the oval Tuesday at Archer Field in Mediapolis for the MEPO Co-Ed Relays. Highest area girls team finish belonged to the Hillcrest Academy girls in third place with 77 points. Louisa-Muscatine won the team title with 108 points. The Raven girls won three event titles on the night including Niva Helmuth in high jump, clearing 4’10”, Marie Yoder winning the 3000 in 11:18.68 and Rya Scott winning the 200 in 27.32 seconds. Runner-up performances included Scott in the 100 and long jump and Yoder in the 800. The Hillcrest 4×200 of Stavia Miller, Helmuth, Morgyn Nafziger and Karina Bourha were third, Siena Stanerson was fourth in the 1500, as was the 4×1 team of Nafziger, Miller, Delaney Shaw and Scott and Stanerson was fifth in the 3000.
The Hillcrest boys scored 33 points to finish seventh of 11 schools behind home champion Mediapolis and their 135.5 points. Owen Scott was a winner for the Ravens taking long jump at 22’4.5”. He was also fourth in the 100. Gibson Scott was third in the 110 hurdles and fourth in the 400 hurdles. Kayden Estell was fourth in the 200. The Ravens finished fourth with their 4×200 team.
Winfield-Mt. Union was the top boys team, third with 82 points. The Wolves had four championship events including a double title night for Kohlby Newsom, winning the mile in 4:39.39 and the 800 in 1:54.98. Cooper Buffington was shot put champ at 46’7.75” and the Wolves distance medley were champions. Other top events included runner-up for the shuttle hurdle and 4×200 teams, third for Buffington in discus, third for the sprint medley and 4×800 teams, fourth for the 4×4 and fifth for Parker Wilson in the 110 hurdles.
The Lady Wolves scored 18 points to finish ninth. Josie Nelson was the 100 hurdles winner in 17.40 seconds and finished second in the 400 hurdles.
The Highland girls were fifth in the team standings with 65 points. The Huskies won a pair of relay titles, taking the 4×100 and 4×200. Chloe Sexton was runner-up in shot put and the shuttle hurdle team was second. Mayia Singbeil was third in high jump, Alexa Hahn third in long jump, and Hailey Brun was third in the 100. Singbeil took fourth in the 100 hurdles, Brena Hazelett was fifth in the same event. Kamryn Fink was fifth in the 200 and the Highland distance medley team was fifth. The Highland boys scored three points with their 4×100 team finishing fifth.
