The Hillcrest Academy Ravens picked up their first win of the new boys’ soccer season by topping the Washington Demons 4-0 last night in Kalona.

Hillcrest wasted little time jumping in front, as a through ball from senior Jesse Blossom after a goal kick in the fourth minute found its way to junior Rowan Miller, who put it in the back of the net.

Miller would strike again in the 24th minute after a mishandled ball in the box, and senior Mason Bender would add one more just before halftime, while Miller set up senior Mason Helmuth in the 45th minute to round out the scoring for the Ravens.

Senior goalkeepers Kyle Neuschwander and Andrew Kauffman combined for the clean sheet as Hillcrest improves to 1-1. Meanwhile, Washington is still searching for its first victory after three matches.

The Demons next try to take down conference rival Burlington, while the Ravens also play a conference foe Thursday in their next game against WACO .
