The Washington Demon boys’ track & field team had some excellent individual efforts Monday at the annual Falcon Relays in West Burlington. That includes Greyson Hartman, who won both throwing events in the Class A division.

The sophomore was first in the shot put with a top toss of 55 feet five-and-three-quarter inches, and Hartman would also have the best throw in the discus at an even 158 feet.

Senior Tyler Alderton was also victorious for Washington in the 1,600-meter run, clocking in at four minutes 53 seconds. Junior teammate Sawyer Tschantz was one spot and two seconds behind him, but he would get gold by winning the two-mile in just under 10:46.

The Demons would add a victory in the sprint medley relay in 1:40. Freshman Parker Tschantz would take second place in the 800 meters for Washington, which also nabbed a silver medal in the shuttle hurdles relay and bronze in both the distance medley and the 4-by-800.

In Class B, Cooper Buffington would win both throwing events for Winfield-Mount Union. The senior hurled the shot put 47 feet four-and-a-half inches, while his top discus throw was 121 feet.

Senior Kohlby Newsom also won twice for the Wolves, claiming the 400 meters in 51.21 seconds and the 800 in just under 1:59. WMU had two relay teams win, as the sprint medley clocked in at 1:38 for first place and the shuttle hurdles relay had the top time of 1:13.

Freshman Brayden Cline would be a runner-up in the 3,200 for Winfield-Mount Union, as would junior Gavin Prior in the 110-meter hurdles and senior Levi Walter in the 400 hurdles. The Wolves would finish third in the 4-by-800 and the distance medley, while the Highland Huskies would also claim a bronze medal in the 4-by-100.
