The WACO Warrior girls’ basketball team got it done by beating Central Lee 52-24 Thursday night in Fort Madison as part of this year’s Southeast Iowa Super Conference Shootout.
Sophomore Brenna Graber came through on offense to power WACO to the win, scoring a game-high 26 points and hitting four three-point shots. Senior Ella Huisenga added nine points as the Warriors improve to 13-8.
The Highland Huskies would not have the same luck in their Super Conference Shootout contest, falling to hosting Holy Trinity Catholic 54-46. A 14-5 deficit after one quarter left Highland trying to climb back, and they would be down by 17 points entering the final period.
Freshman Kamryn Fink led the Huskies with 13 points, eight rebounds, four assists and three steals. Junior Emersyn Schultz added 11 points and nine boards as Highland drops to 15-7.
While the Huskies are now off until the start of the Class 1A Region 7 playoffs, WACO will play Monday night against Van Buren County in their regular-season finale.
