
The Sigourney Savages swept a road basketball doubleheader at Moravia Thursday night. Sigourney jumped out to a 26-9 lead in the first quarter, and the twelfth-ranked team in the state in Class 1A never slowed down from there in a 74-35 victory.
Senior Jospehine Moore scored a game-high 19 points for the Savages and added five rebounds and three steals, while freshman Brynn Clarahan nearly had a quadruple-double with 16 points, 11 rebounds, seven assists and eight steals.
Senior McKinley Chittick knocked down four three-point baskets and added 12 points and three steals as Sigourney runs their impressive win streak to 12 in a row and improves to 17-4.
The Savage boys also kept up their winning ways by defeating Moravia 70-60. It’s a fifth straight win and the 11th in the last 12 games for Sigourney, which is now 15-5. Both Savage squads next play Monday against Centerville.
